Close to 200 notices to quit were served on tenants in the Shannonside Region in the first half of this year. Notices to quit are sent by a landlord, tenant or property management company requiring the tenant to leave for a number of reasons. Data gathered by the Residential Tenancies Board show the most common reason for a N.O.T was that the landlord stated they intended to sell the property.
Other reasons recorded were that the tenant breached their obligations or that the landlord or a family member intended to move into the property. Roscommon had the highest level locally at 78 notices followed closely by Longford, while Leitrim saw 40 N.O.Ts between January and June of this year. Nationally, there were 8,845 notices in the first 6 months of the year, the majority in Dublin.
