Close to 208,000 medical procedures were carried out on patients in the HSE's West Region in 2021.
Figures from the CSO show that medical facilities and hospitals in the west, including in Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, Galway and Donegal, treated over 576,500 people over the course of the year.
Procedures carried out on both on inpatients and outpatients over the 12 months were massively down on pre pandemic levels with many appointments and scheduled procedures cancelled due to Covid.
Over the course of 2021, 111,441 curative procedures were carried out, where surgery, antibiotic or orthopaedic treatments were used to address an already present disease, virus or injury.
In the same time frame, medical personal carried out 71,225 preventative treatments on local patients including immunizations, screenings and tests.
