Almost 300 people languishing on council housing waiting lists in Leitrim

Almost 300 people are on the social housing waiting list in Co Leitrim.

They include 95 in the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, 86 in Ballinamore, and 96 in Manorhamilton.

Leitrim County Council has made 47 offers of social housing to tenants this year - and 38 have been accepted.

Fine Gael councillor Enda McGloin, from Drumshanbo, says the council has made progress in recent years - but there are still in problems.
