Almost 700 local offers of accommodation to refugees so far

Almost 1,300 offers of accommodation to Ukrainian refugees have been made across the Shannonside Northern Sound region.

Nationwide, close to 23,000 pledges of accommodation have been made to house those fleeing war.

Figures released to Shannonside Northern Sound from the Irish Red Cross reveals that 352 offers have been made in Cavan, and 247 in Monaghan.

Meanwhile, 339 pledges have been made in Roscommon, 182 in Leitrim, and 157 in Longford.

The Irish Red Cross says communities within Ireland are welcoming Ukrainian refugees in a way they've never done before.
