A total of almost €2.5 million has been allocated today to the Shannonside region for outdoor adventure projects.
The funding is part of fifteen and a half million announced nationally.
Projects in Leitrim have been granted the largest amount locally at €898,000 in total.
The biggest grant in the county of €490,000 goes to the Cavan Leitrim greenway for the construction of 1.5 km of greenway from Corgar to Drumcullion.
Roscommon is next highest in the region with funding of €879,000.
€500,000 is to go towards the development of an Energy inclusive Discovery Park beside the Arigna Mining Experience.
Projects in Longford are getting a total of just over half a million euro.
The North Longford Rebel Trail-Granard Greenway, and the Aughnacliffe Heritage Trail are both getting €200,000.
