Just under €4,000 euro has been paid out to taxi firms by An Garda Siochana in the Shannonside region since 2018.
Details obtained by Shannonside FM reveal one taxi journey organised by Gardai in Roscommon cost almost €500.
According to the Garda press office, the hire of Taxi services is governed by internal Garda Finance Regulations.
They state that in general members of An Garda Síochána should utilise Garda vehicles or Public Transport but where, for operational reasons this is not practicable, taxi services can be provided for.
Details released to Shannonside FM through Freedom of information reveal that since 2018 the hire of taxis by Gardaí in the Shannonside region resulted in costs of €3,975 to the state.
In Leitrim,the hire of taxis cost just over nine hundred euro (€902) in the last three years - including one journey of €290 in June of 2019 as well as a journey invoiced at €230 in April of this year.
Trips involving taxis organised by Gardaí in County Roscommon included a journey costing €479 in September 2018 and a taxi fare costing €400 which was invoiced in January of last year.
Overall since 2018, €2442 was spent on taxis by Gardai in the county.
In Longford taxi journeys cost a total of €631 in the last three years - including a fare of €253 in July 2019.
