Almost €40,000 euro in fines were given out for breach of Covid restrictions in the Shannonside region between November 2020 and February of this year.
Over half of those fines were for breaching travel restrictions.
The figures provided by the Minister for Justice set out the total amount of fines issued to people by gardaí for offences relating to covid restrictions between November 2020 and February of this year. 337 fixed penalty notices were given out in Longford to a total of 334 people, 266 of those were for breaching travel restrictions, equating to €16,460. €11,360 worth of fines were handed out in Roscommon to 192 people with 147 of those for travel restriction breaches.
Leitrim Gardaí issued 224 fines to 216 people totalling €10,500. 165 of those fines were travel related, equating to €4,700. It means the total fines issued across the Shannonside region is €38,320 euro, with €22,700 euro of that for travel restriction breaches.
Dublin had the most fines issued nationally at just over €900.000
In total, €1.9 million in fines were issued across the country for breach of covid restrictions between November 2020 and February 2022.
