Just under 645-thousand euro has been allocated to the Shannonside Northern Sound region under the Community Monuments Fund.
The fund supports the conservation, maintenance, protection and promotion of local monuments and historic sites The Community Monuments Fund was first established in July of last year.
It aims to help owners and custodians of archaeological monuments to safeguard them into the future for the benefit of the public.
139 grants have been issued across a wide range of archaeological heritage projects nationwide.
In the Shannonside region, two projects in Letrim will receive more than 103-thousand euro in funding, 98-thousand euro is headed to Longford for two projects, while Roscommon benefits from 190-thousand euro in funding for four heritage sites.
Leitrim's Gubalaun Abbey gets the biggest share in the Shannonside region, at 85-thousand euro, followed by Abbeyschrule Castle in Co Longford which will receive 70-thousand euro.
Rahara Church receives the biggest allocation across Co Roscommon, at just over 61-thousand euro.
