An organisation supporting Older People in Ireland is appealing for more volunteers in Co. Roscommon.
ALONE is actively looking for people to take part in its visitation support and befriending service throughout the entire county.
Around 50 people in Roscommon are waiting on a visit with the time commitment of a volunteer ranging from just an hour to a few hours a week.
Anyone wishing to take part in the programme can visit the Alone.ie website or call 0818 222 024.
Head of Communications at Alone Frank Dillon says it beneficial for both the service user and volunteer.
"We have about 50 older people who are awaiting a volunteer as we speak today and that's just in the Roscommon area and that number will go up in the next few weeks and months. We really are in need of people to volunteer, to contact us, and to commit a few hours a week to something that is good for both parties"
