It's expected the amalgamation of two schools in north Roscommon will be complete by September 1st.
In a statement the Diocese of Elphin say the amalgamation of Scoil na nAingeal Naofa and St. Joseph's Boys National School in Boyle will be in place with its principal and board of management by the start of the next academic year.
At a board meeting of both schools in July, it was stated the schools would better serve children and parents if they were joined together.
The patronage says discussions have been proceeding well and are being directed by an independent facilitator.
The two schools continue to function as normal until the end of August.
They are already working closely together, and this will include working together to accept enrolments for the new school.
