Planning permission has been upheld for a substantial new housing development in Westmeath.
Frank Bell & Son Ltd had sought planning permission for the 65 homes at Ardmore Hills in Marlinstown near Mullingar, with planning permission granted in September of last year.
The plans call for 32 three bed homes, 27 four bed houses and a mix of two and five bedroom properties.
The application includes the provision of 123 car parking spaces, communal open spaces and landscaping.
An appeal lodged against the permission highlighted concerns around the provision on open areas and the suitability of the estate roads to handle industrial traffic to neighbouring industrial land.
An Bord Pleanála refused the appeal and upheld planning permission with 19 conditions attached.
These include the lodgement of a cash bond by the applicants to insure completion of the project and a financial contribution towards public services.
