MEP Ciaran Mullooly says he was "an incredible man who lived an extraordinary life - often in the most difficult of circumstances".

Tributes are being paid to an officer with Roscommon Civil Defence following his untimely death.

Roscommon town native Patrick 'Junior' Hannon, who lived in Ballyleague, passed away on Friday.

His funeral takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary in Ballyleague tomorrow at 12 o'clock, with burial afterwards in St Coman’s Cemetery, Roscommon.

Roscommon Civil Defence says he was "a true gentleman, the most dedicated and reliable volunteer".

MEP Ciaran Mullooly, who lives in Ballyleague, has also been paying tribute to Hannon, who was aged in his late 50s.
