An organisation supporting Older People in Ireland is appealing for more volunteers from the midlands.
ALONE runs a Telephone Support and Befriending Service for Older People to help combat loneliness and isolation.
Volunteers would be asked to make calls to different people once a week for a 2 hour shift.

Grainne Loughman from ALONE says volunteering with the organisation is a very rewarding experience.
"We are looking for volunteers across the country but especially across this region at the moment. We are looking for volunteers to give up two or three hours a week to call in to elderly people living locally and to make phone calls and engage with them."
