Its been confirmed this evening that An Post will seek to appoint a Postmaster to take over the running of Roscommon post office in the current premises at The Square.
In a statement, An Post has said that they will seek expression of interest for a partner Postmaster to run the Roscommon office in the coming days. They also confirmed that they will immediately begin exploring the most advantageous future use of the post office building to support the future development needs of Roscommon town.
The statement concluded by saying that the building will not be left vacant and that there is a unique opportunity for the community to have both a new and more modern post office, contributing to the regeneration of the town centre providing the full suite of post office services in addition to a either a new community facility in the town centre.
