A Roscommon Heritage site has been left considerably damaged following an unathourised celebration during the Winter Solstice.
In a post on social media the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre have hit out at a group of people who lit fires at the world famous site on Monday night.
They claim the N5 was brought to a standstill and despite the efforts of local farmers the gathering continued to act irresponsibly.
It's understand the incident has been reported to Roscommon County Council and Gardai are also investigating.
The centre says this irresponsible behavior disrupted the community and damaged national heritage.
