An Board Pleanala has rejected an appeal against a 24-metre high communications tower in north Longford.
Planning inspectors ruled that the structure, located at the Eircom exchange in Coolamber Lisryan could proceed.
Longford Council Council gave the green light to the development, subject to eight conditions, last September.
However, an appeal was subsequently lodged with the board centred on ownership of the site, concerns over the health impact from the tower and a nearby national monument.
In a decision from the inspector in recent days, the board has decided to reject the appeal but recommends that a number of conditions are also considered as part of the development.
