An appeal has been lodged against a major proposed development at a local national school. Tarmon National School in Castlerea was granted planning permission last December for the construction of a single storey extension to the rear of the existing school. The extension in the application features an SEN base, early intervention classroom, a multi-sensory room, three mainstream classrooms and an office.
The works would also include the demolition of existing storage areas while new car parking spaces will be added. An appeal was lodged last month with An Bord Pleanála against the development citing damage to visual amenities and changes to traffic patterns. An Bord Pleanála are due to decide on the case in May.
