The proposed turbine would have a tip height of just over 149 metres, with an 81 metre high tower holding the blades.

An appeal has been lodged against a proposed 150 metre wind energy turbine in County Roscommon.

Natural Forces Renewable Energy Limited were granted planning permission last month to construct the wind turbine at Kilcash near Athleague. The proposed turbine would have a tip height of just over 149 metres, with an 81 metre high tower holding the blades. Included in the proposed development is the installation of a hardstanding area, underground cabling and a substation building. The proposed project would have an operational lifespan of 30 years.

The Kilcash Wind Turbine Action Group Committee have appealed the planning decision to An Bord Pleanála. The case is due to be decided upon at the end of September.
