Leitrim County Council's refusal of a 30 metre telecommunications mast in Keshcarrigan have been appealed to the higher planning body.
Vantage Towers Limited have lodged the appeal with An Bord Pleanála for the construction of the structure at Carrick near the village.
The application was refused by county planners earlier this month and was the subject of a number of local complaints in opposition to the development.
Locals claimed the telecommunications mast with associated antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment, would affect the visual amenity of the local area.
Residents stated the mast was too close to Keshcarrigan village and that electro-magnetic energy from the development could prove harmful.
The company is now calling on the higher planning authority to overturn the refusal and grant permission for the construction of the mast.
An Bord Pleanála will make a decision in October.
