An appeal lodged following the refusal of a telecom mast in Leitrim has been shot down by the Higher Planning Authority.
Vantage Towers Limited have lodged the appeal with An Bord Pleanála for the construction of the structure at Carrick near the village Keshcarrigan.
The application was refused by county planners earlier this month and was the subject of a number of local complaints in opposition to the development.
Locals claimed the telecommunications mast with associated antennae, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment, would affect the visual amenity of the local area.
This concern was upheld by An Bord Pleanála who stated the proposed plan would be visually obtrusive.
In the planners report, it was also stated that development was against the guidelines set out in the Leitrim County Development plan.
