Approval in principle has been rated for a significant new Turn key housing development in Ballinalsoe.
A development has been greenlit to Galway County Council for 33 residential units at Kilgarve in Ballinasloe.
The homes will comprise of 3 one bed units, 22 two bedroom houses and 8 three bedroom homes.
The approval was announced today by local Fianna Fail Senator Eugene Murphy following confirmation from the Minister for Housing's department.
Speaking to Shannonside FM news, Senator Murphy says the Ballinasloe area has been dealing with an unacceptably long housing waiting list:
''There has been housing issues not enough a supply of housing in the ballinasloe region. And many traditional families in the region, you know, living in unacceptable conditions. And now with this third announcement in a short period of time, and some of those houses coming on stream shortly, we will certainly see an improvement in that situation. And I do think that this will ease the burden in the Ballinasloe region because too many people on housing waiting lists for a long, long time.''
