Around 300 delegates set to choose Fianna Fáil candidate in Roscommon-Galway

Shannonside political analyst Ivan Connaughton says Martin Daly requires substantial Roscommon support to oust Eugene Murphy.

Around 300 delegates are registered to vote at Fianna Fáil's Roscommon-Galway selection convention this evening. The two remaining candidates, Senator Eugene Murphy and Dr Martin Daly, are set for a showdown in The Abbey Hotel, Roscommon at 8 o'clock. A local political analyst says the majority of delegates will be coming from the Roscommon part of the constituency.

Former Roscommon Cathaoirleach Ivan Connaughton believes this may benefit Scramogue man Eugene Murphy. Speaking to Shannonside News, Ivan said Daly will need substantial cross-border support to edge the Senator out:
