A green energy project is to be developed at the Kepak facility in Athleague as part of the plans to reduce carbon emissions.
The project is in partnership with Cork based ActionZero and involves a €15 million investment.
The project will be developed at the Athleague plant initially with plans to roll the technology out across the entire group eventually.
The initial project in Athleague will reduce carbon emissions by more than 90% for the facility, elimination almost 3,000 tonnes, of C02.
It's equivalent to the planting of 200,000 trees.
