The Emergency Aeromedical Service based in Athlone are responding to an increased number of farm accidents each year.
That's according to advanced paramedic Pat Moran who was speaking at a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the air ambulance at Baldonnel Aerodrome in Dublin today.
The Roscommon native says incidents involving livestock and farmers continue to be prevalent across Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon.

Pat, who has been a member of the team since it was first established, says it's often easier for the air ambulance to respond to farmland incidents that have uneasy access.

Since the service was established in 2012 over 3,500 missions have been completed with a large number of these in the Shannonside region.
Speaking to Shannonside FM in Baldonnel today Pat believes the ambulance is a vital asset to rural and farming communities in the region.
