It has been confirmed the air ambulance in Athlone has been temporarily moved to Dublin. The National Ambulance Service has told Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane it was relocated to Baldonnel on December 3rd.
It will return at the end of January, if repair works on the air ambulance hangar in Athlone are finished. Deputy Kerrane, from Ballaghaderreen, says it will impact on ambulance response times - and she fears it mightn't return to Athlone for several months:
