Athlone animal charity captures pine marten discovered in supermarket store room

An Athlone animal charity says it appears that pine martens have significantly increased in the local area in the last few years.

Billy Gallagher from Animal Haven Athlone was asked to help in a situation in the town this week where the animal had been discovered in the stock room of a local supermarket.

He helped place a number of cages around the building and the pine marten was lured into one of them.

Billy says the animal was released into a wooded area afterwards by a wildlife ranger.
