One of the country's youngest councillors has resigned their seat from Westmeath County Council.
Independent Councillor Jamie Moran represents the Athlone/Moate Municipal District following his election in 2019 at age 20.
Councillor Moran is the son of former local TD and Minister Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, who lost his seat in the 2020 general election.

According to the former representative, he's leaving his post with immediate effect to pursue new work opportunities.
In announcing his resignation, he thanked his former colleagues, staff and outdoor crews of the council.
The vacant seat on the council will now be opened to a co-option process.
