Councillors have expressed their frustration at a lack of communication from Westmeath County Council on the plans which have been lodged directly with An Bord Pleanala.

The developers Castlestar (Athlone) Limited are hoping to use a fast-tracking process for plans to develop 426 residential units, including 237 houses and 189 apartments as well as a crèche and associated site works on a 15 hectare site within the townlands of Cornamagh, Clonbrusk and Coosan.
