Planning permission for the development of a drive thru coffee shop at an Athlone shopping centre has been upheld by the higher planning body.
Int Inv GP Ltd had sought the construction of the single storey pavilion coffee shop with drive-thu facilities at the Golden Island Shopping Centre.
A vehicle circulation route, external seating and collection point will be all located in the existing carpark.
41 existing car parking spaces will be relocated to the North East corner of the Golden Island Shopping Centre carpark.
Westmeath County Council approved the plans in September of last year.
An appeal was lodged shortly afterwards by adjoining land owner Tony Diskin over concerns on the loss of car parking spaces in the shopping centre carpark.
An Bord Pleanála upheld the permission with 15 revised conditions.
These include a requirement of a comprehensive landscaping plan and a control scheme for any odours emanating from the site.
