Athlone Town Football Club have received planning permission for improvements to their Lissywollen stadium.
The club had applied to Westmeath County Council earlier in the year for the construction of a two- storey building to include ladies changing rooms, a fitness suite and an external covered balcony.
Phase two of the project will include the building of a new spectator standing terrace at the Brawny Road end of the ground, including signage and access gangways.
The club moved to the stadium at Curragh, Lissywollen in 2007 from the nearby St Mel's Park.
County planners have approved the plans with 6 conditions attached. These include a provision to underground all service cables on site as well a ruling for construction to take place between 8am and 8pm.
