An Athlone newspaper is to close down permanently.
It was recently revealed that the Athlone Advertiser is to cease operations with immediate effect.
The news comes from its senior journalist, Ronan Fagan.
The journalist tweeted that he had 'truly enjoyed' his work during the six years of his role at the newspaper.
The paper's latest release on Thursday, May 23rd, is to be its last issue.
