An Athlone takeaway was the subject of a food safety closure order last month.
The HSE under the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act closed the Take Away Express on Northgate Street in the town for a short period in December.
Inspectors found a number of issues on site, with the report stating adequate pest control procedures were not in place in the takeaway.
Rodent droppings were discovered behind the dough fridge and in the dry goods store.
Inspectors also noted a hole in the wall by the backdoor leading to the outside, while two open pipes were found running out through an external wall.
The closure order was issued on December 13 and lifted three days later on December 16.
Nationally, the FSAI served 133 Enforcement Orders on food businesses for breaches of food safety legislation in 2024.
