The number of people presenting to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in Mullingar increased between 2021 and last year.
The latest HSE report shows that 148 people presented to the midlands based centre in 2022.
Sexual Assault Treatment Units provide specialist care for women and men aged 14 years and over who have recently been sexually assaulted or raped.
There are 6 centres based around the country in Donegal, Galway, Waterford, Dublin, Limerick, and Westmeath.
The latest SATU report from the HSE shows that attendances at the Mullingar unit increased from 120 in 2021 to 148 last year.
The average age of those who presented to the centre located at the Midland Regional Hospital was 26.
The youngest patient was 14 years old and the eldest was 55.
Of the 148 patients who went to the unit, 92 of them presented for a forensic exam as part of a Garda investigation.
The report also shows that 96% were seen within 3 hours of a request for a forensic clinical exam.
The staff of the unit were praised in the report by patients with one commenting that they were 'very gentle, caring, and compassionate'
Nationally, the number of people presenting to Sexual Assault Treatment Units increased by 24.7%, from 859 in 2021 to 1,072 last year.
