Landlords are sick of being labelled as "greedy".
That's according to one auctioneer, who says it's partly to blame for the "exodus" of small landlords from the rental market.
The Irish Property Owners' Association is among those calling for the government to urgently reduce taxes and ease regulations.
Estate agent Richard Cleary says the burden has become too heavy for thousands of landlords, who are no longer able to cope with the excessive costs and redtape:
Especially anyone who seems to be like myself and over 50.
They are just getting out of the market in droves.
Alot of people just don't have an appetite for it anymore, just being branded as a greedy landlord.
Most landlords I dealt with were 100%, yeah you have a few of them who are not so good but it's the same with tenants.
You'll get that in all parts of life.
