A Ballaghaderreen Dairy plant has addressed local concerns over a smell affecting the North West Roscommon town.
Locals have called for immediate and decisive action to address the issue after the smell began affecting the town again last month.
The EPA last year found that the Aurivo plant was emitting significant odours from their dairy Ingredients facility.
In a statement to Shannonside FM news, the company acknowledges that there is a level of disquiet and concern locally relating to current odours in the town.
While Aurivo says they are taking the matter very seriously and apologize, they can only take action relating to odour issues it is responsible for.
Following engagement with the EPA and locals last year, the agri business invested 3.5 million euro to upgrade its effluent wastewater treatment system with the project due to be completed in June.
Extensive works are also underway on site according to management with the covering of tanks where odour may arise progressing and the installation of an odour filtration system.
