A right to automatic compensation for bad customer service from broadband and mobile phone firms, is on the cards.
The new Communications Regulation Act will introduce fines for companies who fail to deliver on their promises.
Customers will be compensated in some instances.
Minister of State Ossian Smyth says there will be further safeguards for consumers:
'If you were not happy with the amount of money you were compensated with.
You can then go to a judication. So you don't have to take them to court, you can bring them to a form of mediation, make your case and the regulator may award you something else.'
