It comes ahead of a crime protest in the west Roscommon town at 5 o'clock this evening, starting at St Nathy's Cathedral car park before making its way down to the garda station at the other end of town. 

Construction work has started on the new development in the Shambles area of the west Roscommon town.

The new operators are promising that the facility will be an "exciting" and "important boost" for the community.

The station was unoccupied at the time and the suspect was arrested after an alarm was activated.

Siobhan Wynne, from ESB Networks, says teams are working to restore the power as soon as possible.
