Ballinamore councillor Ita Reynolds-Flynn was asked by Fine Gael to run in the general election in Sligo-Leitrim - but she has turned them down. The party chose one candidate at a selection convention last month, when Sligo-based TD Frank Feighan beat former junior minister John Perry.
Fine Gael then asked Reynolds-Flynn if she'd run alongside Feighan as part of a two-candidate strategy. The well-known Leitrim woman held talks with the party but says she has decided not to run.
