Councillors in the Ballinamore area are urging the local authority to seriously consider accepting an offer to take over the courthouse.
It's emerged that the courts service has offered the building to the council free of charge.
After completing works on the roof, a letter from the Courts service to the local authority says that it is struggling to maintain its estate portfolio.
But it emerged that the council is not keen to take it on.
Fianna Fail Councillor Caillian Ellis says even if there aren't resources to maintain it now, there may be in the future.
