A major Leitrim festival has decided not to run an event this year due to the uncertainty around Covid-19 regulations.
The Ballinamore festival committee has issued a statement, confirming that due to uncertainty around outdoor events this month it will not be going ahead.
The committee claims that they could not be confident of going ahead without any risk to community, business or visitors, and public health and safety was of paramount importance to the organisers.
The group has expressed its disappointed but is also hinting that it may be able to stage some event later on the year, depending on public health advice.
The decision by the Ballinamore festival is just the latest in a long series of local groups who have cancelled planned festivals this year due to the pandemic.
