A Ballinamore woman in her 70s is concerned about how her daughter with disabilities will be cared for when she dies, due to the lack of residential care in south Leitrim. Fianna Fáil councillor Gary Prior met several parents in the town last night to discuss the care needs of their children. They are looking for respite and residential homes to be urgently provided in south Leitrim.
The parents are meeting the HSE and local politicians in the Bush Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon tomorrow week to discuss the issue. Councillor Prior says the crisis is causing stress for family members:
