A Ballinasloe man has raised over €50,000 for charity after he swam the length of the Shannon.
Aiden Sheridan spent over two weeks swimming from Dowra in Cavan to Limerick city.
Through an online fundraising campaign, the local man raised over €50,000 with €41,000 donated to East Galway & Midlands Cancer Support and close to €10,000 gifted to the Irish Cancer Society.

The money was donated in honour of Aiden's Brother Mark who passed away with Cancer in 2017 and his sister Jennifer who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2015 but has since recovered.
