A Ballinasloe native is attempting to swim the length of the Shannon in aid of the Irish Cancer society and East Galway & Midlands Cancer support.
Aiden Sheridan began the mammoth challenge on Friday and is entering his third day today swimming from Carrick on Shannon to Albert Dock.
As high temperatures are forecasted over the next few days and if you are using the river locally please watch out for the father of two.
Tomorrow he leaves from Albert Dock and on to Roosky and then on to Lanesborough on Tuesday.
His swim continues to finish up in Limerick city on July 29th and currently he has raised almost 5, 000 euros for the cancer support charities.
The swim is in memory of Aiden’s brother Mark who died from cancer in 2017.
Aiden began swimming the 245km journey from Dowra in County Cavan on Friday and will take 14 days to complete.
