People in the greater Ballinasloe area are being urged to hear concerns over plans to operate a waste transfer station at Poolboy. A full application

People in the greater Ballinasloe area are being urged to hear concerns over plans to operate a waste transfer station at Poolboy.

A full application for the infill facility has been submitted by Barna Waste to Galway County Council and will be considered by planners from today.

Over 2,300 people lodged objections to a similar proposal in 2018, and after a long campaign, the High Court rejected it, ruling it would have a negative impact because of the close proximity to low-lying areas of the River Suck.

The ‘Ballinasloe Says No’ group says the new application will be available for public viewing from today, it’s hosting an online public meeting on Zoom next Wednesday 9th December.

Senator for Roscommon-Galway, Aisling Dolan is Secretary of the ‘Ballinasloe Says No’ group, she says community groups will be outlining their concerns.
