Mr Waldron passed away suddenly at home last Sunday morning at the age of 64.

His funeral Mass is taking place in St Bride's Church, Ballintubber, at 12 noon tomorrow.

The decision was made following the sudden passing of Cllr Anthony Waldron at his home in Ballintubber on Sunday morning.

It's understood he died of natural causes.

It's after a series of burglaries in the county recently, with shops, farms and small businesses all targeted.

Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area on the night in question is asked to contact their local Garda Station.

The victim received medical treatment at the scene and was later conveyed to Galway University Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

The event will begin with a ecumenical prayer service at St Bride's Church at 2pm and will be followed by an event in Garvey's pub.
