Ballygar GP wants Roscommon Medical Assessment Unit open every day

An east Galway GP is calling for the medical assessment unit in Roscommon University Hospital to be open every day of the week. It's only open from Monday to Friday at the moment, from 9 o'clock in the morning until 5 o'clock in the evening.

It's a step below an accident and emergency unit but caters for various illnesses and injuries. Dr Martin Daly, who's running for Fianna Fáil in the general election in Roscommon-Galway, says it should be expanded.
