A car dismantler in Ballykeeran has issued a plea for urgent regulation of the sale of valuable vehicle parts.
Gardai are investigating after 15 catalytic converters, as well as a number of power tool battery packs and chargers, and a snap-on gun, were taken in a raid on Joe Devery's car dismantlers outside Athlone on Saturday afternoon.
The raiders also stole the camera recording equipment at the business and the theft comes shortly after gardaí arrested and charged a man from Longford in recent weeks in connection with a number of similar incidents of catalytic converters being stolen from cars in the town.
