The former president of the Irish League of Credit Unions is being remembered as a gentleman, a friend and a tireless advocate for his local community.
The funeral is taking place today of Ballyleague native Gerry Thompson, who passed away over the weekend following an illness.
The married father of four was well known for his work with Roscommon Credit Union, and took over as president of the Credit Union movement in April 2019.
John Murphy, manager of Glenamaddy credit union, was a long-time friend of Gerry's and says he was always interested in meeting as many people from across the country as possible :
