The 226th anniversary of the Battle of Ballinamuck will be marked in North Longford today.
The Battle marked the defeat of the main force of the French and the death of 100s of Irish rebels during the 1798 Rebellion in Ireland.
This year's commemoration will see the screening of a new documentary titled 'Ballinamuck' at the 98 Hall in the village.
The film, created by Granard production company Harp Media, tells the story of the lead up to the battle, the clash itself and the aftermath.
The documentary features footage from the 225th anniversary commemoration that saw hundreds of people reenact key scenes from the historic battle.
The film will be screened at 4pm with admission costing €10 with all funds going towards a planned Commemorative Sculpture in the village.
