The battle to save homes in the Curraghboy area from Lough Funshinagh continues this week after two families were forced to evacuate. Roscommon County Council has closed the main Curraghboy to Athleague road while pumps are working around the clock to hold water back. There remains some hope of a resolution, however, following last week's visit by a Government Minister.
Minister at the Office of Public Works Kieran O'Donnell met with residents and local public representatives to discuss potential solutions. However, up to 42 families are now said to be impacted by flooding around the lough with no immediate end in sight. Speaking to Shannonside News, these residents said the flooding has wreaked havoc in the area:
